Hi Nordic Walkers,
I had another original comment out walking on Friday…”Where’s your skis?!”
Oh, how I chuckled!
I swear, if I had a pound for every time I’ve heard that, I’d be sipping cocktails on my yacht right now!
So, you all did great last week and I did push you all a bit on the hills but it’s only coz I know you love it!
I mentioned to a few of you about this week’s walks already and forgot I have my new courses starting this week so I will have to make some changes. However, to make amends I’ve added a walk on Friday and hope you can join me.
Monday 6:30pm – Bramingham Park, Edgcott Close, Barton Hills, Luton
Tuesday 10am – Maulden Woods – meeting in the lay by on the A6. (please take care if coming from Bedford/Kempston, safer to go to Clophill and around the roundabout and back up the A6 than crossing the dual carriageway.)
Tuesday 12 noon – Summer Beginners Course week 1 – The Bedford Golf Club, Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham
Wednesday 6:30pm – Summer Beginners Course week 1 – Ampthill Park, Big Car Park
Thursday 10am – Ampthill Park, Big Car Park
Thursday 12 noon – Summer Beginners Course week 1 – The Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine
Friday 10am – Barton Le Clay to The Lavender Tea Room, Hexton and back – meet on Old Road, Barton Le Clay. (Allow 2 hours from start to finish as we stop for tea!) Yay!
Saturday 10am – Ampthill Park, Big Car Park
Saturday 11am – Summer Beginners Course week 1 – Ampthill Park, Big Car Park
Looking at the weather forecast this week, it is not looking great so please check your email an hour prior to the scheduled walk to see if it is cancelled. Hopefully the Nordic Gods will be good to us but make sure you check before you leave.
Any questions, please let me know.
Looking forward to some great walks this week, see you all soon.
Thanks,
Elaine
ps: tell all your friends/family to sign up for the beginners courses!

Nordic Walking Bedford, Luton, Ampthill, Week Starting 15th April 2013
Hi Nordic Walkers,
We’re already the middle of April; I can’t believe how fast time is
flying by. At least the temperatures are warming up finally.
This week we have a special treat of a walk in Castle Ashby. I’m going back
there this afternoon to see if the route I had in mind for us wasn’t too
affected by the rain we had Friday and Saturday as it included fields.
The gardens will be fine as the path around it is on gravel mostly.
There is a car park there and so when travelling there in your car,
you’d follow the signs for Castle Ashby Gardens.
Depending on the walking route which I’ll check again today, we may meet at The Rural
Shopping Village in the overflow car park which is actually in Castle
Ashby village and we’d walk to the Gardens from there. I will clarify
this afternoon.
To walk around the Gardens and Arboretum it costs £5 Adults, £4.50 Seniors or we can get family tickets which consists of four per ”family” which works out at £4 per person.
Please look up the route to Castle Ashby on RAC routeplanner http://www.rac.co.uk/route-planner/ for those of you making your own way there. Looking to meet at 10:45am. For those of you wanting to convoy or car pool, we’re meeting at Ampthill Park at 10am.
Monday 6:30pm – Bramingham Park, Barton Hills Luton (meet at top of Edgcott Close)
Tuesday 10am for 10:45am walk – Castle Ashby
Thursday 10am – Ampthill Park, Ampthill (Big Car park)
Saturday 10am – Ampthill Park, Ampthill (Big Car park)
Fingers crossed we have good weather this week. Please check your emails by 9am on the day of the walks to see if there are any cancellations or changes.
Look forward to seeing you all on the trails!
Elaine
